pizza out of a cardboard box,
salad bar dressing with
a bottle of coke

no fancy dinner
no expensive night out

a small heater,
hot pink wooly socks with
betty boop pj’s…

a candle burning in the center,
a single rose in a vase…

the first hug of coming home,
the laugh for all times,
the tears in my husband’s eyes…
unexpected, unreal

catching me off guard…
i cry…
this is the best anniversary ever!
